Move On Up Series 2006
Uprising Parties for the Soul @ MAXX FISH
The Move On Up series was four parties organized by Hilltrip at
the newly re-designed and re-opened Maxx Fish Lounge & Club. Moving
up from Step 1 to 4, these events were uprising funk parties for
the soul whose purpose was to raise awareness and money to fight
global warming trough its
Carbon
Offset Program. With over $4,200 raised, there’s no
daub these events were a success.

The first
tree events (January 20th, February 24th, and March 24th) featured
DJ Mr Fister (a.k.a. Chili Thom) for Step 1 and
2, and
DJ Rob Banks for Step 3. To keep the night's
energy moving up, go go dancers Lexi Moon and KLC grooved to the
uprising tunes. During the evenings a live auction was hosted by
Hilltrip's collaborator
Rainbo to raise money while
educating about Hilltrip's quest to improve the sustainability of
our mountain lifestyle.
To finish it up, the forth event was on
Earth Day, April
22nd, which happened to be on the last Saturday of the
Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. For this
last event, world renowned
DJ Mat The Alien played
and the place was decorated with colourful flowers and plants. During
the evening there was an
O’Neill Bikini Fashion Show,
raffle and the auction of
Stan Matwychuck’s original
art piece which was done live that day in Whistler Village especially
for Earth Day.
Prizes for the live auction and raffle included items from Whistler Hemp Company, O’Neill, Farfalla, Twice-Shy, Billabong, SMS Clothing, Gauge Clothing, Prior, Gnarcore Videoplay, Showcase Snowboards, Whistler Bungee and Whistler Eco-Tours.
The
Positive Creation Input
For those who have been following the series of events, they may
have noticed Hilltrip was using the same visuals for the advertising
of all the Move On Up parties. The art work was
Chris Dyer’s
skateboard art piece named “Party Entities”. Chris Dyer
came to Whistler to participate at Action2 in the fall of 2005 and
Hilltrip’s founder Marie Fortin liked his work so much that she
bought the original piece and created the poster and flyer design
from it.
Inspired by his life and surroundings, Chris Dyer goal in life is
to travel the world living off his art and love, hopefully waking
the mass consciousness back to a positive balance. For more information
